News and Announcements

State of the Alliance - October 16, 2026

(10/16/2026)

This is your weekly informal update from the PLA President, one day late. Happy Friday.

After last week's jam-packed Board Meeting, this week was a little simpler for the PLA. Much of the week was dedicated to , who currently have applications live for Vendors, Presenters, and Volunteers. The KF Core Team is mostly filled out, and the earliest stages of planning the conference layout and logistics are well underway. Tickets for general attendees will go on sale next month.

Aside from that, the PLA's other committee work is continuing. Community Education hosted a class on blood safety in kink at Sanctuary this Sunday, and we have announced a predicament rope class from Mx. Knotty this Halloween afternoon at the PLA Space. Details on that here: https://forbiddentickets.com/events/portland-leather-alliance/b18926f54b

Speaking of, the PLA Space committee has been busy getting ready for our first major events in the space this month, including that class and rentals to other groups. We had a work party last weekend, and another this weekend, while also meeting with our landlord, an electrician, and our architect as we continue our work on city permitting and ADA improvements. If you're interested in touring or booking the PLA Space, please reach out by email to plaspace@portlandleather.org.

And that's the update! A lot of this work is fairly unglamorous, budgeting and logistical planning for both the PLA Space and Kinkfest, but our goal is to make that process transparent and sensible to the community. As always, my inbox is open at president@portlandleather.org to any questions, concerns, or feedback, and the board as a whole can be reached at board@portlandleather.org. We also are still monitoring our general feedback survey here:
