President’s MessageThis past year has been a great success for PLA with several new major contributions to the community. We had the first First Aid / CPR class that cost was substantially subsidized by PLA as well as a workshop almost every month except for March because of Kinkfest. Also this was the first year that members could sign-up or renew their memberships online through our new website. We also made strides to improve our internal operations with work done on Internal Financial Controls, as well as improvements in record keeping and communications. This year we created a 3 and 5 year road map to help set direction for the organization’s goals and growth. We also were able to continue to put on all the great events that PLA is known for including Fetish Ball, Leather Pride Play Party, Kinkfest, and the upcoming Vendor’s Fair. This upcoming year I hope to continue to focus on the core events that PLA is know for while also putting an effort into streamlining the membership process and member benefits. I would like to see memberships return to a 365 day membership with membership cards and PLA lapel pins issued to all new members. I would also like to see the ability for members to easily update their contact information, change their mailing preferences, and request replacement membership cards. I look forward to the upcoming 2009 year, and continuing to work for the community and the PLA membership. John VB President, PLA
